Further Information About Our Ballarat Courses ?
The danger to life will always be the highest priority in any emergency. Even so, sometimes an emergency may need to be dealt with before a person can be rescued or removed from danger.
Using a fire extinguisher is quite a simple activity, even so, the first time you are confronted with a fire shouldn't be the first time you use a fire extinguisher.
On our courses we cover the theory behind an extinguisher including the classes of fire and how the extinguishers can be identified by their color band.
It is important to understand the classes of fire as it can be quite dangerous to use the wrong type of extinguisher. For example: to use a water based extinguisher (foam, water or wet chemical) on an electrical fire, could have devastating consequences. This is because they are likely to conduct electricity and placing the user in real danger.
We can't place enough emphasis on the importance of having emergency fire wardens in all facilities.
Fire wardens create a link between the emergency occurring and the other emergency services arriving. This link could be the difference between life and death for occupants in a real emergency.
Fire wardens should be provided with ongoing training after the initial accreditation. As and example, firefighters receive eighteen weeks of training before being sent to a fire station. Fire wardens are probably unrealistically required to perform the first responder role with 4 hours of training. This is where training is a critical component of any emergency response.
